August TBR- Monthly TBR
For the month of august I really want to get back into my hobbies and try to do things for myself again. With this being the last month of summer I want to lean into the summer books get them off my shelf so we can really dive into fall books and more specifically my larger fantasy books!
Great Big Beautiful Life by Emily Henry
This novel follows Alice and Hayden as they compete to write a memoir of a scandalous heiress Margaret Ives. The both have a one month trial to convince Margaret which one should write her memoir. After both given different pieces of the heiress past the two must partner up to figure out the truth.
This book is at the top of my TBR because it reminds me a bit of the seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo. The idea of the heiress “sharing” their life story is similar but with the romance plot of the two writers flighting a slow burn while also competing makes it interesting to pick up and try something different. Also Emily Henry books have never done me wrong.
Raiders of The Lost Heart by Jo Segura
This novel follows Dr. Socorro Mejia an archaeologist who is forced to team up with her rival Dr. Ford Matthews. They must work together on a secret expedition in the Mexican jungle to find her ancestor, an ancient Aztec warrior.
This book made my TBR because it reminded me of Indiana Jones movies but with a romance twist. This author has also been recommended by Ali Hazelwood who is one of my favorite authors. I found this book when I was shopping at a local book store and they had it as a book pick for their romance reading club.
Confessions of a Grammar Queen by Eliza Knight
This novel is set in the 1960’s following Bernadette Swift as she pursues her dream of becoming the publishing industry’s first female CEO at a time where workplace sexism is prevalent.
I picked this novel for my TBR this month mainly because it was something different than romance and the historical fiction part of it all would be different than what I’ve been reading lately. I originally picked this book up because I liked that it was about a woman really trying to fight and make her own mark and presence known it inspired me.
Say you Swear by Megan Brandy
This novel is a sports romance following Arianna who is reading from heartbreak with her first love. She then meet star quarterback Noah Riley and changes everything.
This one is on my TBR for this month because I have been wanting to get back into reading sports romances and since this one has become very popular from social media and TikTok it made it an easy pick for my TBR
Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins
This novel is the second book in the Hunger Games trilogy following Katniss and Peeta after the events of the 74th hunger games. Katniss lives in a dystopian society were all the people in her country of Panem work and live to provide the capitol with their riches. Every year the capitol picks one boy and one girl from each district to be apart of the Hunger Games and fight to the death.
I have added this to my TBR because I have re read Hunger Games with my husband and continuing with the rest of the series. He has never read it but it was my favorite growing up and now with Sunrise on the Reaping movie coming out this November.
